You might have LOL-ed at the subject but it’s so darn true. I named this trip siao trip (crazy trip) because right after back from Koh Adang, only have 3 days rest before leaving again to Tukun Perak. Sorry it took quite a long time to have this report posted, I still haven’t get my pictures yet and people already start complain I didn’t post up the Tukun Perak catch report.
Left KL in the wee hours in the morning first time on a Toyota Hilux. It’s nice having such vehicle to go on a fishing trip be it short or long distance. Why so? There’s 3 Coleman’s of 50quarts can be fitted there. Ride’s kind of bumpy for me at the backseat, thank God no motion sickness.
Reached Kuala Perlis jetty after 5 hours journey, can see Albert is already waiting for us. It was drizzling there, so I went around to look for a raincoat but couldn’t find any. People there really think I’m a Malay with Chinese speaking ability because of my dark complexion. *sigh* Need to stay away from the sun already.

Albert and us..
This is considered my first actual trip with actual and realistic number of people in a boat (unlike Adang, there’s only 4 of us excluding the skippers). There were 9 of us, and guess what, since there were too many of us, one of the guy got left behind for a while until there was a call from the jetty saying someone was left behind… it was hard to count who’s who since it’s a double deck boat so finally we realised Wak was left behind.
After turning back to pick him up, off we go to Koh Tarutao to wait for the night fall for some bait (squid). I took this a lesson from Adang trip (yeah, in Adang trip we too went to the same place to catch some squid), so I went to sleep early after setting up the rod and reel. The next morning, woke up only to find out there wasn’t much squid (less than 10 if not mistaken). I wasn’t very much concerned about that since I didn’t plan to do any bottom. Anyway I did helped in apollo. I love to apollo but sometimes it’s tiring. Guess what I used this time? I used the Saltiga Game with Earthshaker to do apollo! Hahaha…Enjoyed it.
After that, off we go…everybody start casting jigs and feathers. Eidi’s feather was whacked by a big GT…I start casting my jig towards where he casted…and got myself a GT! hehe… Morning jig color would be grey or fishlike color. Was only using cheap jig, Bluefox Herring 60gm. Got 2 GT both less than 2kg. Oh well..at least my jigging license
Too bad no pictures coz the person who took my picture was not using my camera and I am unable to reach her.
After getting 2 GT, I stopped to rest and give way to others to have my spot to cast. Don’t know why after that I felt lousy and vomitted. I slept most of the trip this time. Probably am tired or couldn’t tolerate the cream bun. Slept the whole day even when fish start to go on a frenzy..there goes my second day.
Third day, am feeling better but didn’t do anything since everybody lowered their bottom set already. Was there just to take pictures etc. Seeing them with 2 speed multiplier and electric reel, I’m at no match for them. It’s more than 80m depth and I ain’t using my single speed multiplier with size 36 weight. NO WAY! To retrieve my trolling lure already like want to die…size 36, I rather stay aside and watch them do it.
Albert moves from spot to spot until finally a casting spot. Saw Albert start casting jig, I just followed but didn’t bother to change to luminous jig since it was around 7pm. I used a Yo-zuri sardine blue color and cast. Imitate how Albert jig and VIOLA! A GT again…hehehe…

Fighting GT...
No picture of the after math since I declined to do so as I tot that the previous 2 photos of GT would be sufficient. I guess my cast was just pure luck since here there everywhere I can see fish boiling, everybody cast feathers and jigs towards the boiling. But I had enough for the day, making way for others who didn’t catch anything yet.
Went back to sleep after dinner, Eidi say he would wake me up if they start to jig for talang but ends up most of us were sleeping except for the bottom guys. I heard shouting but didn’t care much since I didn’t hear Eidi’s voice..oh well…must be some bottom fish again. Only to find out they were invaded by MANTA RAYS! A gang of manta rays appeared at the bottom of the boat and their size are best described as big as our car. They were terrorizing all of the bottom set. Even the Shimano TLD50 just gave way screaming with dwindling lines. All electric reel just dwindle their lines…for a minute till the line broke by itself. So the total score was Manta rays 5- humans 0.
It made me think, that it really brought us down to earth irregardless what reel we used, nothing beats the power of mother nature.
Day 4 morning and we are already heading home. Anyway here are some pictures.
