Recuperating mode ON

Posted by Elaine Under Uncategorized on Sunday Dec 27, 2009

Recuperating mode ON for a month from now. One is for work, dun wanna be so crazy on fishing at the moment, need to save some money for more advance reel, contemplating between getting a Saltiga or a Stella. Been to most forums, it’s always this kind of war… it’s like BMW vs Merc kind of war..never ending. So I myself also not sure which to get. I’m a girl, small built, my drags are usually set to 3kg and hardly more. Locking the drag too hard kind of suffering.

I came to this point coz I’m thinking of going for overseas trip like Lucornia and Perth. Someone actually brought FreamsJ 4500 to Lucornia and every after biggies landed, the reel need to rest for a while before continue. So now I know why people use Stella or Saltiga. Their gears can last for a long time and can be used continuously. Now, most of my friends are using Stella. Wonder shall I jump into the bandwagon or differ in using Saltiga? Or maybe cut cost to using Twinpower?

Recuperating mode ON also means recuperating my skin as well. Already so dark, need to get rid of the sun spots and also the dull skin. Spent some $$ on SK II and some collagen Vitamin C injections. Don’t wanna destroy my skin under the sun, so these stuff are needed to maintain a smooth supple skin. Hehehe..

For the very least now I know why girls hardly fish. Not only they need to spend on reels and rods, but on skin care as well. Guys don’t need much skin care. They get tanned, they look macho. Girls on the other hand, get tanned do not look attractive already. Anyway I’ve stocked in the moisturizer, creams, SK II essence and some face mask.

I’ll still visit some payponds, only every wednesdays. Other day won’t be free. Don’t know for one month indoors with aircon working for 14 hours, 6 days a week, I think I can be fair again. LOL. Reports will be on the low this Jan, so hope u all don’t mind this blog will get boring. Will organize a trip either before or during CNY to Kedah for some tenggiri fishing as a reward for me. hehe. Cheers y’all and Happy New Year

My Christmas Wishlist

Posted by Elaine Under General, Reel on Tuesday Dec 22, 2009

Yeehaa..Christmas is around the corner, how I wish I could have some Christmas pressie but I dun think anyone would be a good Santa to give me such pressie. Oh, well..for the very least I need to work hard for it this 2010 (again, any part time vacancy? )

For jigging

Ocea jigger 1500 P loaded with at least PE5 line would do just great! Meant for those heavy jigs at drop offs.

Shimano Blue Rose (I’m aiming on Eidi’s rod..waiting for him to sell that to me second hand) It’s soft and nice even tho with high PE. Do just great for a small body built girl like me.

Not to forget the jigs…I still need to have more jigs, also not to mention a jig bag…Would love to have this. Been eyeing on this baby for months!

Shout! System Jig Bag

Shout! System Jig Bag

For bottom action (I hardly do bottom but I do have friends who bottoms every now and then, and it’s hard not to bottom if the fish are eating) Daiwa Tanacom Bull 750 FE would do just great with a Thomas Stroker rod. Oh, well..it’s just a wishful thinking. Maybe after getting my popping and jigging nirvana, then I would go for bottom fishing. LOL.

Now the grand finale would be POPPING. Lots of lots of poppers including Adhek Poppers. Rod,  SMITH KGS70MH and Stella SW8000HG. These would be my priority at the moment and am working hard for it. Will get my butt down to Singapore by June 2010 to get these stuff especially Smith rod.

That would be all. This post serves as a reminder for myself and as a New Year Resolution. Cheers!

Sealion Pond 2

Posted by Elaine Under Pay pond, Sealion on Tuesday Dec 22, 2009

Just back from Sealion Pond 2. Caught a 2.4kg Jenahak. Wow…it’s been a long time I’ve step into Pond 2, what else Sealion. LOL. Lost 2 fish only landed 1. All gave equally gigantic fight. First hook up was my mistake in losing that fish because of my new reel, Tica Taurus…The plastic-ky feel made me think the drag was loose, so I tighten my drag further and snap, the leader broke.

So second time, I set my drag just right, finally landed the fish after a long fight. Darren was there shouting “long tan” or “naga” till a whole crowd was standing behind me just to see whether I caught the naga or not. They even shout “naga” until finally the jenahak showed itself, then the crowd dispersed. (I punched Darren for my 15 minute fame)

Third time was Darren casted for me, he gave it to me..then a bite, I gave it to him to play with. The fight was a while till the fish finally unhook itself. So that was the end of Pond 2 biting frenzy.

Sat at the waterpipe area. Bait- live prawns Fishing time: 6.30pm-9.30pm

Port Dickson Jigging

Posted by Elaine Under Salt water on Monday Dec 21, 2009

This was done right after my professional paper exam on 13 Dec 09. Shoot straight from Universiti Malaya down to PD in 2 hours (jam lah! ). Friends were already there since morning, started jigging already. Damn…they din mention about popping…should have brought from poppers along. *sigh*

Had lunch since when I reached they were already on shore. Rest for a while before leaving. Jig from 2.30pm till 7pm non-stop. For the first time I felt accomplished and satisfied even tho I didn’t catch anything and plus I lost 2 jigs. I guess I know I’ve done my very best, probably what lacks is the luck. Here are some pics anyway…

Tukun Perak, damn..I’m a siao char boh

Posted by Elaine Under Sea fishing on Tuesday Dec 15, 2009

You might have LOL-ed at the subject but it’s so darn true. I named this trip siao trip (crazy trip) because right after back from Koh Adang, only have 3 days rest before leaving again to Tukun Perak.  Sorry it took quite a long time to have this report posted, I still haven’t get my pictures yet and people already start complain I didn’t post up the Tukun Perak catch report.

Left KL in the wee hours in the morning first time on a Toyota Hilux. It’s nice having such vehicle to go on a fishing trip be it short or long distance. Why so? There’s 3 Coleman’s of 50quarts can be fitted there. Ride’s kind of bumpy for me at the backseat, thank God no motion sickness.

Reached Kuala Perlis jetty after 5 hours journey, can see Albert is already waiting for us. It was drizzling there, so I went around to look for a raincoat but couldn’t find any. People there really think I’m a Malay with Chinese speaking ability because of my dark complexion. *sigh* Need to stay away from the sun already.

Albert and us..

Albert and us..

This is considered my first actual trip with actual and realistic number of people in a boat (unlike Adang, there’s only 4 of us excluding the skippers). There were 9 of us, and guess what, since there were too many of us, one of the guy got left behind for a while until there was a call from the jetty saying someone was left behind… it was hard to count who’s who since it’s a double deck boat so finally we realised Wak was left behind.

After turning back to pick him up, off we go to Koh Tarutao to wait for the night fall for some bait (squid). I took this a lesson from Adang trip (yeah, in Adang trip we too went to the same place to catch some squid), so I went to sleep early after setting up the rod and reel. The next morning, woke up only to find out there wasn’t much squid (less than 10 if not mistaken). I wasn’t very much concerned about that since I didn’t plan to do any bottom. Anyway I did helped in apollo. I love to apollo but sometimes it’s tiring. Guess what I used this time? I used the Saltiga Game with Earthshaker to do apollo! Hahaha…Enjoyed it.

After that, off we go…everybody start casting jigs and feathers. Eidi’s feather was whacked by a big GT…I start casting my jig towards where he casted…and got myself a GT! hehe… Morning jig color would be grey or fishlike color. Was only using cheap jig, Bluefox Herring 60gm. Got 2 GT both less than 2kg. Oh well..at least my jigging license :) Too bad no pictures coz the person who took my picture was not using my camera and I am unable to reach her.

After getting 2 GT, I stopped to rest and give way to others to have my spot to cast. Don’t know why after that I felt lousy and vomitted. I slept most of the trip this time. Probably am tired or couldn’t tolerate the cream bun. Slept the whole day even when fish start to go on a frenzy..there goes my second day.

Third day, am feeling better but didn’t do anything since everybody lowered their bottom set already. Was there just to take pictures etc. Seeing them with 2 speed multiplier and electric reel, I’m at no match for them. It’s more than 80m depth and I ain’t using my single speed multiplier with size 36 weight. NO WAY! To retrieve my trolling lure already like want to die…size 36, I rather stay aside and watch them do it.

Albert moves from spot to spot until finally a casting spot. Saw Albert start casting jig, I just followed but didn’t bother to change to luminous jig since it was around 7pm. I used a Yo-zuri sardine blue color and cast. Imitate how Albert jig and VIOLA! A GT again…hehehe…

Fighting GT...

Fighting GT...

No picture of the after math since I declined to do so as I tot that the previous 2 photos of GT would be sufficient.  I guess my cast was just pure luck since here there everywhere I can see fish boiling, everybody cast feathers and jigs towards the boiling. But I had enough for the day, making way for others who didn’t catch anything yet.

Went back to sleep after dinner, Eidi say he would wake me up if they start to jig for talang but ends up most of us were sleeping except for the bottom guys. I heard shouting but didn’t care much since I didn’t hear Eidi’s voice..oh well…must be some bottom fish again. Only to find out they were invaded by MANTA RAYS! A gang of manta rays appeared at the bottom of the boat and their size are best described as big as our car. They were terrorizing all of the bottom set.  Even the Shimano TLD50 just gave way screaming with dwindling lines. All electric reel just dwindle their lines…for a minute till the line broke by itself. So the total score was Manta rays 5- humans 0. :) It made me think, that it really brought us down to earth irregardless what reel we used, nothing beats the power of mother nature.

Day 4 morning and we are already heading home. Anyway here are some pictures.

Reel fixed…

Posted by Elaine Under Uncategorized on Monday Nov 30, 2009

Yippeee..my reel is fixed! Time to go for a “test drive” but just wondering where…went to sealion during Raya Haji, didn’t manage to catch anything :( What lousy luck…

The added screw

The added screw

Yeah, on the pic above, they just add a screw in it. Wonder if it’s the original stuff or they just make it functioning, that’s all? So no left handers can borrow my reel unless they have a screwdriver in hand :p

Now..think…where to test drive my reel…need to go back to Kota Kemuning Siakap pond I guess..
